PETALING JAYA: Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi sent a letter to Istana Negara saying MIC chairman SA Wigneswaran says all 30 BN MPs are supporting Anwar Ibrahim as prime minister. Huh.

According to Malaysiakini, Wigneswaran said Zahid “accepted” to send the letter to the palace after 10 BN MPs decided to withdraw their support for Perikatan Nasional (PN) President Muhyiddin Yassin and remain in opposition to BN. did.

The online portal also reported that only 28 out of 30 BN MPs had signed the “Kujanji” pledge ahead of the general election to give Zahid a mandate to hold discussions with any party on government formation.

Malaysiakini also reported that BN Deputy Chairman Mohd Hassan and Treasurer-General Hishammuddin Hussein did not sign the pledge.

Wigneswaran declined to comment on reports that the letter sent by Zahid had fueled tension in the BN Supreme Council and efforts were being made to sack the BN president.

Yesterday, Umno vice president Ismail Sabri Yacoub said that BN has decided not to form a government with PN or Pakatan Harapan (PH) and will remain in the opposition.

This was followed by talks between BN and PH leaders on government formation.

Hishammuddin had repeatedly stated that he would not cooperate with the PH to form a government, adding that he was prepared to be sacked by Umno for his stand.
